09/03/2010 - The Acorn Centre has a new building in addition to it's current site on Burnley Road.
The new offices are on Halifax Road in the old plot previously occupied by Ronnie Ford's car
accessories. Known as SENTO (Social Enterprise Todmorden), the new building will hopefully be
up and running in the week commencing 15/03/2010.
03/03/2010 - The first stage of employment has begun and the Acorn Centre staff number has risen dramatically. We have taken on staff in a number of areas including environmental workers, designers, caterng staff, drivers and administration.
As Todmorden is a "hot spot" for unemployment up to 30% of the jobs can be for over 25s. This is a very exciting time for the Acorn Centre and Todmorden.
The Acorn Centre has been successful in gaining Future Jobs Fund, in partnership with Calderdale Council and Halifax Opportunities Trust, to create sustainable employment in the Upper Valley for 48 long term unemployed people.
